Acoustic foam is a critical but often overlooked component of a properly functioning drive-thru speaker post. The foam serves two important purposes: it holds the speaker and microphone units firmly in place inside the speaker post housing without mechanical contact with the post walls eliminating vibration and rattling and it provides acoustic treatment that fills empty space inside the speaker post compartment, reducing unwanted echoes and reflections that cause muffled or unclear audio at the order point. When acoustic foam degrades, is missing, or was never properly installed, order accuracy can suffer and customers may struggle to communicate clearly with crew members.
